Tilletia indica(NEOVIN) is a kind of fungi that causes Karnal bunt on some plant species. This pathogen primarily targets wheat and rye but can also infect a variety of other grass species. The infection starts at the seed’s germinal end and progresses through the periderm layer, eventually transforming the seed into a cluster of dark spores, referred to as teliospores or sori. Teliospores have the potential to spread naturally over significant distances, as they can be transported by wind. Additionally, these spores can survive passage through the digestive systems of animals unharmed, raising the possibility of pathogen dispersal through farm manure. Nevertheless, the primary method of global dissemination occurs through contaminated wheat seeds.
