Apple Stem Pitting Virus (ASPV00) is a member of Betaflexiviridae family that has the positive-sense single-stranded RNA (+ssRNA) genome. This virus infects especially apple and pear species all around the world. The virus remains asymptomatic in apple and most pear pears, however; infection can stimulate leaf vein yellowing and red mottling or necrotic spot, fruit deformation and stony pits on susceptible pear trees. There is no known vector to transmit. This pathogen spreads by grafts, unsanitized instruments and infected propagative materials.
