Prunus Necrotic Ringspot Ilarvirus(PNRSV0), known as Prunus Necrotic Ringspot Virusis a member of the Bromoviridae family, Ilarvirus genus. This virus causes ringspot diseases. The hosts of virus are species of the genus Prunus, as well as other species such as rose (Rosa spp.) and hops (Humulus lupulus). All cultivated species of the genus Prunus, which includes plums, cherries, apricots, almonds, and peaches, are susceptible to one or more strains of PNRSV0. Hops and rose are also susceptible to infection by the virus. The common symptoms of virus are death of buds and roots, reduced tree survival and uniformityincreased susceptibility to winter injurynecrotic “shot holes” in leaves or rugosity and mosaic symptoms The mode of transmission is via thrips, infected graft and pollen spread.
