Raspberry bushy dwarf virus (RBDV) resembles viruses in the genus Ilarvirus, family Bromoviridae in having easily deformable particles that are transmitted in association with pollen. RNA-2 resembles RNA-3 of ilarviruses in the arrangement and sizes of its encoded gene products, the generation of a 3′ terminal subgenomic RNA (sgRNA) and in the structured nature of the 3′ ends of the molecules. Also, RBDV differs from ilarviruses in the sedimentation behavior of its particles, in the number and sizes of its RNA molecules, and in having a bipartite genome. This RNA virus can be detected with Real-Time PCR instruments with this specially designed RT-qPCR kit.
