Xanthomonas arboricola pv. Pruni(XANTPR) is a gram-negative, rod-shaped bacterium with a single circular chromosome, responsible for bacterial spot disease in stone fruits such as peach, plum, and apricot. It spreads through rain splash, wind, and contaminated tools or plant material. Symptoms include water-soaked leaf lesions, fruit spots, and premature leaf drop, leading to yield loss. The bacterium overwinters in buds and can rapidly spread under warm, wet conditions. Management includes the use of certified disease-free plants, copper-based sprays, pruning of infected tissues, and molecular diagnostics for early detection and containment.
