Phymatotrichopsis omnivora is a soil-borne fungus that known as cotton or Texas root rot. It is one of the most common plant diseases as it can infect more than two thousand dicotyledonous plants. Every year, approximately 25 million dollars worth of cotton in Texas is wasted due to this pathogen. The disease affects not only cotton, but also beans, soybeans, grapes, conifers and clovers. The first sign of infection is slight yellowing and bronzing of the leaves. In later times, the roots of infected plants rot and the plant is wilt.
