This virus belongs to the genus Begomovirus and the family of Geminiviridae. Tomato yellow leaf curl virus has a single circular single-stranded (ss) DNA molecule which is a common feature in Geminiviridae family. TYLCV causes the most destructive disease of tomato, and it can be found in tropical and subtropical regions causing severe economic losses.
