Diaphorina citri (Asian Citrus Psyllid, DIAACI) is a tiny, sap-sucking insect that severely threatens citrus crops worldwide. This pest feeds on young leaves and stems, causing curling, stunted growth, and reduced fruit quality. More critically, it transmits Candidatus Liberibacter asiaticus, the bacterium causing Huanglongbing (HLB) or citrus greening disease, which has devastated citrus industries in many regions.

The psyllid spreads through infected plants and wind. Adults are small, brown, and feed at an angle, while nymphs secrete honeydew, promoting sooty mold. Warm weather accelerates reproduction, enabling multiple yearly generations. Effective control requires an integrated approach: systemic insecticides, Tamarixia radiata parasitoids, and infected tree removal. Early detection is achieved through yellow sticky traps and reflective mulches. Since HLB has no cure, preventing psyllid spread is crucial-strict quarantine measures and area-wide management are essential to protect citrus production.
